Every other year or so, Flex-Safe USA donates either time, money, or products to a local organization. In 2025, we selected the “Blue Collar Scholarship” program in Jackson County, Tennessee.
The “Blue Collar Scholars” program is a scholarship initiative for graduating high school seniors in Jackson County, Tennessee, who plan to attend a trade or vocational school.
The scholarship is an initiative of the Poke Sallet Foundation, a local organization in Jackson County. It emphasizes the importance of skilled trades and aims to support young individuals entering these vital fields. The Foundation recognizes that many families and ancestors in the region were “blue collar” workers and wants to continue supporting these careers.
The scholarship program is specifically for graduating seniors from Jackson County High School who intend to pursue trade or vocational education.
Since the “Blue Collar Scholars” program supports students attending trade or vocational schools, the range of trades that can be studied is quite broad, depending on what programs are offered by the eligible institutions the scholarship recipients choose to attend. Given that the scholarship aims to support “blue collar” careers, it’s likely to encompass a wide array of hands-on, skilled trades that are vital to the economy.
Based on the focus of the Poke Sallet Foundation on “blue collar” careers, here are some examples of trades that Jackson County students might pursue with the support of this scholarship:
- Construction and Building Trades:
