A Question about MUTCD Certification

Some time ago, an individual contacted me and wanted to know if the Flex-Safe barricades has been certified by the MUTCD. I replied to the individual that the that the FHWA's MUTCD does not certify Traffic Control Devices.

"The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is a document issued by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) to specify the standards by which traffic signs, road surface markings, and signals are designed, installed, and used."

There are other agencies that certify devices or provide mechanisms to self-certify Traffic Control Devices.

The Flex Safe Barricades have been "crash tested" by an independent third party lab. In addition, there is a "Work Zone Safety" Letter on file for the product.
