Frequently Asked Questions

A: The process starts when you contact Flex-Safe USA for more information and to request an application.
A: National Cooperative Highway Research Program Report 350 "Recommended Procedures for the Safety Performance Evaluation of Highway Features" was first implemented in 1998 and it is part of FHWA policy. NCHRP 350 addresses the crash-worthiness of roadside safety devices and provides guidance for the testing of these devices. FHWA policy now requires crash worthy devices to be used within the clear zone on all projects on the National Highway System. If a device has been successfully crash tested by a reputable test house, and certified to have met the Report 350 Evaluation Criteria, then it may be used whether or not the FHWA has written an Acceptance Letter.
A: The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is a document issued by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) to specify the standards by which traffic signs, road surface markings, and signals are designed, installed, and used.
